Amorim's update on Cunha and Mount

Saturday 30 August 2025 18:00

Ruben Amorim says he is concerned about Matheus Cunha and Mason Mount, who both came off injured during our 3-2 win against Burnley.

Cunha pulled up clutching his hamstring during the first half at Old Trafford, minutes after United had opened the scoring via Josh Cullen's own goal.

The Brazilian immediately signalled over to the bench that he would need to be withdrawn, and went straight down the tunnel after leaving the pitch.

Mount, meanwhile, was taken off at the break, with Ruben later revealing he'd been suffering with an injury.

“It was hard to lose Cunha and Mason Mount, because Mason Mount played 30 minutes with an injury,” said Amorim, to Sky Sports.

“I’m concerned about that, because they are so important for us. We will see.”

“I don’t know [how they are], I don’t know. We will check them," he added, in his press conference.

"We need those guys really bad to be really competitive.”

Cunha was replaced by Joshua Zirkzee, while Kobbie Mainoo came on for Mount.

United led at half-time, but Lyle Foster's equaliser ushered in a chaotic second-half period of play.

Bryan Mbeumo soon restored the Reds' advantage, but Jaidon Anthony seemed to have secured a point for the visitors, until he pulled Amad back in the box during stoppage-time.

Bruno Fernandes then slotted in nervelessly from the spot, to give United a much-needed first victory of the campaign.
