Amorim frustrated by lack of intensity
Ruben Amorim admits he is concerned by Manchester United's performance in the 1-0 loss to 10-man Everton.
The Merseysiders opened the scoring through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in the first half, after Idrissa Gana Gueye's bizarre dismissal, and held on to their lead, thanks in no small part to a fine display by Jordan Pickford, with the England keeper making a couple of outstanding saves.
There was no way back for United, who were far from our best from the first whistle, and it was a missed opportunity to climb the Premier League table.
Here is a selection of what the boss had to say to NBC, Sky Sports and MUTV afterwards...
CAUSE FOR CONCERN
"Forget the result. The result is really bad but I was more concerned by the feeling I had during the game. Everyone should play better today."
Ruben: We should play better v 10 men
Ruben Amorim speaks to MUTV’s Liam Bradford, after our defeat to Everton at Old Trafford…
NO INTENSITY FROM THE START
"The understanding of every situation of the game was not there and then the quality near the box. But most important is the intensity. You can feel it right away, when we start the game. We can feel when we are at the top level in intensity and when we are not, and you cannot win games in this way."
FRUSTRATION AT A MISSED CHANCE
"I have said, on many occasions, that I understand we have a lot to do. I have that feeling but, of course, I am really frustrated by the way we play the game, especially in our home and especially understanding what happened during this week, with the other clubs and looking at the table. Feeling everything in the way we present, especially in the first minute of the game. It is really, really frustrating."
THE LEVEL DROPPED
"We need to play the game in a different way. Sometimes, we can do it. Sometimes, we can have a good run of results and performance but then we drop the level and yet we need to win every time."
NO UNDERSTANDING
"We didn't play as a team well. We didn't understand the game and we were going with the flow of the game. And that is my biggest concern."

CREDIT TO EVERTON
"If we are not in that place, we are not going to win games and that happened today. They were better than us with 11 players. They defend well and suffer with 10 men. Congratulations to them."
LOOKING AHEAD
"We cannot change the past. We cannot cry now and think about the last one. We need to prepare, improving a lot of things. The most important thing is to finally understand we need to play every game in high intensity in order to win games."
