Ruben pinpoints two big moments

Ruben Amorim has pointed to two big moments of difference he noticed on the day Manchester United beat Brighton & Hove Albion 4-2 to move into the top four of the Premier League.

The Reds resisted a fightback from the Seagulls to secure a third successive win, when Bryan Mbeumo bagged his second of the evening, with a fourth a thumping strike at the death.

Matheus Cunha and Casemiro were also on target, the first time two Brazilians have scored in a league game for United, ensuring efforts by Danny Welbeck and Charalampos Kostoulas proved in vain for Fabian Hurzeler's side.

Amorim: Forwards’ fight was incredible!

Ruben Amorim has his say on United 4 Brighton 2, highlighting the work of our forward line…

During his post-match interviews with Sky Sports and MUTV, Ruben said he could tell his squad's attitude in the build-up to kick-off was more confident, and ready to secure another three points.

He also singled out the roar of the appreciative Old Trafford crowd for the third goal, scored by Mbeumo, as a moment he had not encountered before, which was a big thing to say considering the uproar that was generated by the incredible Europa League victory over Lyon last term.

Here is a selection of what our head coach had to say...

HOW DOES IT FEEL?

"I feel good. I think we played well but we suffered in the end, a little bit, our fault in the way we conceded the first goal. You can sense that, in that time of the game, we are near the fourth goal, not to suffer one. But they did everything. They run, they play with the ball, they kept the ball when it was needed. So it was a good game."

PLAYING WITH BRAVERY

"We were brave in the way we pressed, especially in the first half, to win a lot of balls. We knew when to drop to defend a little bit lower, so I can see very good signs on the understanding of the game."

BRIGHTON'S FIGHTBACK

"It's something that happens in football. You have the game under control and then you suffer a goal. And then we suffer a little bit. They have a lot of talent. They have a lot of quality with the ball and they control that and they use that momentum to control the game. But we are improving in the way we respond to bad moments, and today, we did it again. We respond a little bit better and that's really important. We know how to suffer. If we suffer together, it's so much easier to win games."

THE OLD TRAFFORD ROAR

"I think, after the third goal, the noise of the stadium was not normal. It was like a different moment. It was the first time that I felt that sound within the environment. So it was a very good moment for me. So, of course, we are focusing on the game but there are something things in this club, in this stadium, that you feel. And that was really strange. The sound of the stadium was incredible."

THE PRE-MATCH VIBE

"Even when we arrived to play this game, I felt that the environment with everything, with everybody here, the players, was different. It was not like being overwhelmed, it was excitement to come here to play in front of our fans and that was a different feeling. The confidence is normal because it comes with wins."

WHAT'S NEXT?

"Enjoy today but, tomorrow, we need to prepare for Nottingham Forest because, if you look at the table, two weeks can change everything. One week can change everything. We need to enjoy the week but work really hard to prepare for the next one. Today, we finished the game with a goal that gave us a different feeling. So, when you have the right spirit, everything is going in your favour. We need to hold onto that, work really hard and take that to the next game."
