Amorim's verdict on a "tough game"
Ruben Amorim could not hide his disappointment after Manchester United suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The head coach felt his team conceded at such bad times in the game, from a corner after only 91 seconds, and then twice in quick succession following the start of the second half.
Despite goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Bruno Fernandes, the Reds were unable to retrieve the situation and slipped to a second successive loss, on the back of the 2-0 reverse at Arsenal in midweek.
On a wretched, wet and windy night at Old Trafford, due to the effects of Storm Darragh, here is a selection of what the boss had to say to the official broadcasters, including MUTV...
Ruben: We had more heart than quality
Ruben Amorim has his say on the defeat to Forest, citing the challenge created by conceding early in both halves...
TOUGH EVENING
"It was a really tough game. We started really badly. The first play, we suffered a goal. They scored in difficult moments for us so it was difficult to pass on to the players the job we have to do. We controlled the game and created some chances and then we tried to work something for the second half. When we suffer two goals like that, it's really hard in this context to help the players, to put some calm into the players. They try it until the end, with not a lot quality, more heart than quality, but we couldn't do it, [get] another goal to gain at least a point."
SOME IMPROVEMENT
"We improved, I think, the movement in the last third, especially in the beginning of the first half. But we lose the game and didn't have many situations to score. But we managed to have some combinations, especially if you see our first goal. We have to continue improving in some aspects. We have to win games to help us improve the team."
CONCEDING FROM CORNERS
"Of course, we are just focusing on that and we had two days where we focused a lot on that. But they managed to score again and it's hard for the team. The team felt it a little bit and you can feel it. Everyone in the stadium feels that goal. You can put men on men with the biggest guy on the biggest guy of them and then they block your biggest guy. So it doesn't really matter if you make man-to-man or zonal marking. We need to improve in that area."
USING 22 PLAYERS SINCE TAKING OVER
"Of course, every day, you learn a lot. The best team also depends on the opposition. You have to understand the opposition to put the right players with the right characteristics for every game. I know better our players and that is most important."
"A lot. Every situation in the game, I can see what we can improve as a team. It's a bad thing but also a good thing as we know what to do."

CONVINCED WE'LL GET IT RIGHT
"Of course, we have to. I think everybody here has experienced ups and downs in football. You have to continue your job, doing the same things, being really convinced of your way. I'm really convinced of that. It's really hard to lose games. I know the public and the fans want to win. It's a long time without winning, without that feeling. We're in a long journey and we're going to do it."
VIKTORIA PLZEN UP NEXT
"We have to think about the next game. Step by step, going forward. Like I say, it's a long journey."
