Amorim reveals chats with Sir Alex

Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been having conversations with Sir Alex Ferguson about the club.

The two men shared a warm moment before the game against Brighton & Hove Albion, as our legendary former manager helped lay a wreath for his friend Denis Law in the centre-circle.

After speaking to Sir Alex upon his arrival, Amorim has kept in touch with the man who led the Reds to 13 Premier League titles, including our most recent triumph in 2013.

During one of his post-match interviews, he was asked whether he has chats with the Scot about the current situation.

"I speak with Sir Alex several times," Ruben told Radio 5 Live. "I try to call him to keep being positive.

"It's really good because I feel the history of the club but it's really hard, as they did such a good job, to be the guy leading the team at this moment.

"It's really hard but we have to believe."

United's inconsistent form reared its head again with a first defeat of the new year against the Seagulls.

It came on the back of the improved performances against Liverpool and Arsenal, and the late comeback victory over Southampton.

Rangers are next up, at Old Trafford, in the Europa League on Thursday night, with three points required to push for a guaranteed place in the knockout stages of the competition.

The 20:00 GMT kick-off is surely one Sir Alex will not want to miss, after he spent two seasons with the Glasgow giants, playing centre-forward, at the end of the 1960s.
