When will McTominay return to action?

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is set to have another option in midfield for the final fortnight of the season, as Scott McTominay gets ever closer to a comeback.

While this afternoon's home fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers falls too soon for the Scotland international, the manager is more positive about the remainder of the Reds' schedule.

Speaking to club media for our exclusive pre-match interview, Ten Hag said: "It's good news that Scott is on the way back."

Erik discusses McTominay's injury, our midweek hiatus and the race for the top four, ahead of Wolves' visit...

McTominay has missed the last eight games due to injury, a run that included both legs of the Europa League quarter-final exit to Sevilla and the Emirates FA Cup semi-final win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Wembley.

In his last appearance on 8 April, Scott scored our first-half opener as the Reds beat Everton 2-0 at Old Trafford, having netted back-to-back braces for Scotland in the previous month's international break.

Once he's passed fully fit, our no.39 will undoubtedly be determined to pick up from where he left off and join Fred in providing the manager with alternatives to the recently selected triumvirate of Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes.
"He's made really good steps," reported Ten Hag, on the midfielder's rehabilitation progress.

"He's close, but not close enough to make the selection for [today]."

United's line-up for the Wolves game will be announced on ManUtd.com and our app at 14:00 BST.
