Reguilon: Why I feel at home already

Sergio Reguilon says his former team-mate Casemiro has helped him settle quickly at Manchester United.

The pair were together at Real Madrid and the Brazilian is one of "many people" who have helped the left-back become accustomed to life at Old Trafford.

After a positive debut for the Reds, despite the disappointing 3-1 defeat to Brighton & Hove Albion, Reguilon will hope to make his Champions League bow for the club against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night in our Group A opener.

With Aaron Wan-Bissaka joining Luke Shaw and Tyrell Malacia on the sidelines due to injury, the 26-year-old is looking a shrewd capture.

Speaking to ICS recently, Reguilon explained how he is thankful for the support he has received from our no.18 since joining on loan from Tottenham before the deadline.

"I really have so many good memories with him," said the Spaniard. "A lot of games, training sessions and trips with him.

"He sent me a message on the first day when I arrived here, saying he could help me if I needed anything at all to do with the club - or the house - he said that he was here for anything I needed.

"I'm really grateful to him.

"I have so many people here who are helping me. Casemiro is one of them. It really makes you feel at home when you have people looking out for you from the very first day."

There is now a chance for the colleagues to compete again in the Champions League, with Reguilon appreciating the qualities and experience that Casemiro brings, particularly on that stage.

"I have always said that he is a leader on the pitch," explained Reguilon. "He brings so much energy. He is so consistent.

"I think it is so important in football nowadays to have experienced players like him, who can push everyone to step up the intensity. He is a role model.

"I mean it's hard to even know where to begin when you're talking about his trophies, my goodness!"
