Sevilla announce squad for United's visit

Wednesday 19 April 2023 15:16

Sevilla manager Jose Luis Mendilibar has named his squad for the Europa League quarter-final second leg against Manchester United.

Los Rojiblancos are currently tied at 2-2 with the Reds following the first-leg draw at Old Trafford last Thursday, with a late flourish from the visitors cancelling out Marcel Sabitzer's early brace.

Thursday's return leg will take place at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium in Andalusia, with kick-off set for 20:00 BST.

Mendilibar has selected 21 men in his squad for the fixture, with one player that started in M16 missing from the list this time around.

Defender Gonzalo Montiel picked up an early booking at the Theatre of Dreams last week and will therefore miss Thursday's second leg through suspension.

The 26-year-old started at right-back and played the full 90 minutes at Old Trafford, and is likely to be replaced by former Man City man Jesus Navas, who had an impressive second-half cameo in M16.

Mendilibar has chosen not to replace Montiel, with the other 20 players remaining the same as Sevilla's first-leg squad, with the Andalusian's eying a fifth Europa League semi-final.
