Shoretire wins Premier League 2 award
Shola Shoretire has been named Premier League 2 Player of the Month for February.
Shola collected his award at the Aon Training Complex and he is the first Reds youngster to win the monthly award this season, although the likes of Joe Hugill and Arnau Puigmal have also previously been nominated. The Newcastle-born talent reappeared for the Under-23s in the 0-0 draw with Brighton & Hove Albion last Friday, before being an unused substitute against West Ham United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The forward beat off stiff competition from his peers, including Manchester City's prolific striker Liam Delap and Everton forward Nathan Broadhead, who scored a hat-trick against our Under-23s recently and was on the bench for the Merseysiders' senior team against Burnley over the weekend.
Although Shoretire may be with the senior squad in Milan this week, the Under-23s are in action away to Tottenham on Friday. The 12:00 GMT kick-off is being shown live on MUTV as Wood's side look to continue their impressive form this term.
Shola is also still eligible for the FA Youth Cup and the young Reds will discover our fourth-round opponents after Tuesday evening's clash between Liverpool and Sutton United.
