Six ex-Reds named on Premier League Hall of Fame shortlist

Six former Manchester United players have been named on a shortlist for potential inclusion in the Premier League Hall of Fame.

The 15-man shortlist predominantly comprises ex-Reds, and football fans around the world will now have the opportunity to vote for two of the latest selection of nominated players to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.

Launched in 2021, the Hall of Fame recognises players who have made outstanding contributions in the Premier League, since its inception at the start of the 1992/93 season. It is the highest individual honour awarded by the Premier League.
Our legendary former manager Sir Alex Ferguson was indicted to the Hall of Fame in 2023, alongside six-time Premier League title winner Rio Ferdinand, as the pair joined seven fellow former Reds who were added to the illustrious list in the previous two years.

David Beckham, Eric Cantona and Roy Keane were among the inaugural inductees to the Hall of Fame in 2021, and were joined the following year by Wayne Rooney, Peter Schmeichel and Paul Scholes.
Now, six more Reds are up for the voting to be among the next inductees – with all six having previously been included on a Hall of Fame shortlist.

Andy Cole, Michael Owen and Nemanja Vidic remain ever-presents on the annual shortlist, while Gary Neville is also among the nominees for a third year in a row.

Michael Carrick and Edwin van der Sar have both also been shortlisted for previous votes, in 2023 and 2022, respectively.

Players are nominated for the shortlist by members of the Premier League and the Premier League Awards Panel, through a process which accounts for players’ Premier League career statistics and achievements, and voting data from previous shortlists.

Fans can vote for their chosen two players online and via the Premier League’s app until 12:00 GMT on Monday 8 April, with the inductees to be announced two weeks later, on Monday 22 April.
