Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was asked about Paul Pogba during his latest press conference, following comments made by France manager Didier Deschamps during the international break.

The boss sat down with reporters on Friday afternoon to preview our Premier League match against West Bromwich Albion at Old Trafford on Saturday evening.

Near the end of the media briefing – which is available to watch below – Ole was quizzed by one journalist about Deschamps’ suggestion Pogba may not be happy with his playing time this term.

As you can read here, Solskjaer was quick to point out Paul’s campaign has been hampered by a positive test for coronavirus, and revealed a positive exchange with the midfielder earlier this week.

“Paul had a difficult season last season and he has had COVID now,” Ole explained in his press conference from the Aon Training Complex.

“I think those three games he played for France helped both us and Paul. It helps France, he gets his rhythm and he gets his fitness.

“I have spoken to Paul and he certainly felt, towards the end of the Portugal game and definitely in the Sweden game, he felt stronger for it. He played well and they qualified.

“I think he is only going to improve and, as I have said, Paul is a very important player for us and a very important person for us. To have him in form and happy is going to be vital for the run that we are hopefully going to put together now.”

Pogba is currently working hard as part of a United squad that is preparing to face West Brom on Saturday night, and kick-off at the Theatre of Dreams is scheduled for 20:00 GMT.

Line-ups for this Premier League match will be officially announced at 19:00 GMT via our channels.
