Ole says Rashford is "raring to go"

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is looking forward to welcoming Marcus Rashford and Amad back to first-team action following the upcoming international break.

United entertain Villarreal at Old Trafford in the Champions League tonight (Wednesday) before Everton visit M16 on Saturday.

That’s our last game for two weeks as domestic football takes a back seat for the World Cup qualifiers.

But, although the boss has lost Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw to injury in recent days, he should see his squad boosted when the Reds take on Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on 16 October, with Rashford and Amad both on the comeback trail and keen to feature for the first time this season.

Solskjaer acknowledges that it’s been a considerable wait for Marcus in particular, with our no.10 having not played for almost three months now due to shoulder surgery.

Rashford has been a virtual ever-present in the side since breaking through as a teenager in 2016, making 271 appearances, so far, for the Reds. He also took part at Euro 2020 with England last summer.

The boss says that the extended break has probably been good for the 23-year-old and that he’s putting the work in on the training ground as he looks to hit the ground running on his return.

“They're still a few weeks away so, hopefully after the international break, they could be available,” Ole told club media, when asked about Rashford and Amad.

“They're working hard, both of them positive, and it's been a long, long time for Marcus of course. Probably the longest he's been out but he's needed it.

“He looks raring to go, happy and he knows he's missed out on pre-season, but he's done loads of good conditioning work and should be ready soon.”
