Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after Manchester United beat Tottenham Hotspur

Solskjaer: This was our best performance

Wednesday 04 December 2019 23:32

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was thrilled with Manchester United’s mature performance during the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.

The boss even said after the game that he believes the victory over Spurs was our best showing of the season so far.

Speaking during his post-match interviews with MUTV and Amazon Prime, the boss was also keen to praise his side's Man of the Match, Marcus Rashford, and revealed that Scott McTominay had just one day of training before playing the full 90 minutes.

Here are the main comments from Ole following our superb win…
Ole was delighted with the team's performance on Wednesday night.
BEST PERFORMANCE THIS YEAR

“It was excellent. We should have been three or four up and you’re unlucky when you go into half-time at 1-1. It was just about picking the players up again and saying: ‘C’mon that’s the best performance you’ve put on’. Chelsea in parts [was great], Liverpool in parts, but this was a mature performance. We kept the ball, we played through them, we played round them and in behind them.”
MAGNIFICENT MARCUS

“Marcus was absolutely outstanding - the best performance he’s had during the year I’ve been here. He was strong, direct, taking people on, inside and outside with no fear. That’s what we want - we want to see boys enjoying themselves. That’s what the Stretford End want to see. That’s what he’s been brought up on: seeing [Ryan] Giggsy or [Andrei] Kanchelskis - actually, maybe he’s too young for Kanchelskis - but that says everything about the boy and the potential. He’ll be excellent.

"He's played all the games more or less this season. The boy's getting fitter and fitter and more and more experienced - what a performance! Two goals, creates them himself, could've, should've had two more, there were great saves by the keeper. A free-kick that is going in all the way, but just at the end it curls outside. So, it was a fantastic performance by the boy.”
SINGING ALONG WITH THE FANS

“It’s humbling when you walk out or walk to the game and everyone is singing. I said it when I was a player, it’s the best feeling ever because you keep humming that little song in your head and you don’t get any fear. I feel no fear whatsoever here. I feel at home, I enjoy myself and I’m going to enjoy myself for as long as I can.”

SCOTT’S DETERMINATION

“I’m so pleased to have Scotty back in there again. He had yesterday [in training] and that was it. That’s all he needs. He’s a fit boy and he looks after himself, he’s played every game and there was no chance I wasn’t going to push him through this game because we need him and he’s someone who doesn’t shirk responsibility - he wants to be in there, right in the thick of it.”

ON TO THE NEXT ONE

“It's Saturday again now. It's Man City. Two days recovery and we go again. We've just got to go and get as many points on the board as possible. I said before this game that it's a great chance for us to show what we can do.”
