We can now confirm which squad number Gemma Evans will wear for Manchester United Women, following her arrival earlier this summer.

The Wales international defender became the Reds' first signing of the transfer window, when completing her move to the club in July.

Evans arrived at Carrington on Monday, for the start of pre-season with her new team-mates as preparations ramp up for 2023/24.

United Women report for pre-season training

The women's team, minus our World Cup stars, are now back at Carrington for training following their summer break.

We can now reveal that the centre-back will wear the no.15 jersey in the upcoming 2023/24 season.

Lucy Roberts, Aurora Mikalsen and Diane Caldwell have all been assigned that number for our women's team in the past, before the baton was passed to Maya Le Tissier last season, her first with the Reds.

Having been our no.15 for her impressive debut campaign at United, Maya will wear a different shirt in the new term.

The defender has made the switch to our no.4 shirt, which has only previously been occupied by former Reds defender Amy Turner and, most recently, midfielder Jade Moore, before her departure from the club this summer.

Le Tissier was amongst the party that returned to Carrington earlier, following her standby role in the England squad, ahead of the FIFA Women's World Cup. Those who have featured at the tournament will not report back until September.

CONFIRMED SQUAD NUMBERS

Maya Le Tissier - 4

Gemma Evans - 15

Confirmation of the full list of shirt numbers for 2023/24 will be published at a later date.
