Club statement on Lincoln incident
We are aware of an incident of racist abuse during the EFL Trophy match against Lincoln City from an individual in the home end towards one of our players.
Lincoln City’s stewards and staff identified the individual and subsequently reported them to the police and initiated their club sanction and education processes. We wish to place on record our thanks to Lincoln City’s leadership team for their ongoing cooperation and support throughout this incident.
Given the player's age, and with his wellbeing in mind, he will remain anonymous. He has received support from across the club’s football, player care and safeguarding departments since the incident and will continue to do so.
In line with the Club’s All Red All Equal ethos, Manchester United condemns all forms of racism and discrimination in the strongest possible terms and will continue to work with the authorities to tackle it either online or at our matches.
