Manchester United fan Steven Bartlett has set his sights on interviewing Harry Maguire and three other Old Trafford figures for his popular podcast series, The Diary of a CEO.

Bartlett was at the Theatre of Dreams for Saturday’s crucial win over Brighton & Hove Albion, a week after also attending the jubilant victory over historic rivals Liverpool at Anfield.

During an interview with MUTV, the entrepreneur began by describing his away-end experience on Merseyside and revealed the celebratory message he sent to match-winner Maguire.

“It was unbelievable, unbelievable,” said Steven.

“I mean, there was so much surrounding it that kinds of feeds into the context. I had actually interviewed Jurgen Klopp that week and we talked about the club and everything, and the interview was coming out the next day.

“So the rivalry, the derby, the history of it and the 7-0 was all very front of mind for me. But just the way that it played out couldn't have been better.

“I think scoring in the first minute calmed us all down and it meant that we had an unbelievable time in the away end. Then they scored and instead of it being some agonisingly long wait, Harry Maguire within a couple of minutes had put it in the back of the net.

“We can all think of history at Anfield when, once they get one back, the game is over because they get another one and they do what Liverpool are known for doing at Anfield. It was a really, really important and symbolic thing that we fought back at Anfield to win.

“I was so chuffed for Harry and I actually texted him after, calling him Sir Clutch Maguire. He deserves it, I think.”
Asked what’s coming up on the podcast, Bartlett said: “A former Presidential candidate, I interviewed them yesterday so that will be coming out soon.

“I am hoping to interview Ruben Amorim if he is around here somewhere, Sir Jim [Ratcliffe] as well. I saw he just walked past me so hopefully I am going to interview Sir Jim at some point... if you guys can help make that happen, I would appreciate it!

“Who would you like to see me interview? One United player... I think fans might say Harry because he's had an unbelievable arc over the last couple of years. I think they would either say Maguire or maybe Bruno [Fernandes] because he is captain and he tends to speak his mind.”
