When does the summer transfer window open?

Friday 01 April 2022 09:00

The Premier League has announced when this summer's transfer window will open and close for its clubs, including Manchester United.

The summer transfer window is a busy time for clubs as they look to refresh their squad ahead of another demanding campaign, hoping that incomings and outgoings allow them to assemble a group of players capable of realising their season aims.

With the 2022 World Cup taking place in the winter, prospective transfer plans will be undisturbed by a tournament which historically causes transfer prices to rocket, as individuals impress on the biggest stage of all.

Fresh terms have been finalised with Bruno to keep him at Old Trafford.

But that doesn’t stop the rumour mill, and United have already been linked with a whole host of players, in a variety of positions, who currently ply their trade for different clubs across the globe.

Along with announcing the new substitution rule change on Thursday, the Premier League also revealed the opening and closing dates of the summer 2022 transfer window.

From Friday 10 June, teams in England will have the opportunity to bolster their ranks.

Clubs can continue to make signings until 23:00 GMT on Thursday 1 September, almost a month after the 2022/23 Premier League season begins on Saturday 6 August.

Of course, the first place to find out any news on incomings and outgoings will be here on ManUtd.com or in the United app, where you'll also find coverage of our pre-season. This week, it was announced that we will take on Liverpool, Melbourne Victory and Crystal Palace, with the first match in Bangkok, Thailand, and the latter two in Melbourne, Australia.
