Manchester United's much-changed side were beaten 2-1 by Leicester City at Old Trafford.

Check out our talking points from the game at Old Trafford as Mason Greenwood's goal proved in vain, with Luke Thomas and Caglar Soyucu netting for a Foxes side chasing a Champions League place themselves...

Greenwood scored a lovely first-half equaliser, but in the end we were beaten by goals from Thomas and Soyuncu…

WHOLESALE CHANGES

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer made 10 alterations to the team that started the 3-1 win at Aston Villa, with the Liverpool match taking place on Thursday night. Only Mason Greenwood retained his place and a debut was handed to winger Anthony Elanga. Amad made his maiden Premier League outing on right, the opposite flank. This was the joint-most changes made to a United side in the Premier League, the previous occasion was in the final league game of the 2008/09 season. Sir Alex Ferguson's side still won that clash, 1-0 with a Darron Gibson cracker. Former Red Jonny Evans was missing for the visitors due to injury.

CAPTAIN NEMANJA

Nemanja Matic was one of the most experienced members of the line-up and he took on the armband in the absence of Harry Maguire. The last time he skippered the side was in the Europa League tie against Astana at Old Trafford back in September 2019. The Serbian stalwart became the fifth man to lead the team out this term, after Juan Mata, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Paul Pogba.

EARLY SETBACK

Thomas's opener ensured this was only the third time the Foxes took the lead at Old Trafford in the division, the others came in a 1-0 win in January 1998, with Tony Cottee scoring, before a 2-2 draw on the opening day in 1998 , when David Beckham scored a brilliant last-minute free-kick. The Foxes wide man became the youngest opposition player to net their very first Premier League goal at the Theatre of Dreams, with his unerring finish to Youri Tielemans's cross.

MASE IN THE PACK

Greenwood was the senior figure of the attack, with Amad and Elanga on the flanks, and revelled in the responsibility. The in-form striker greedily gobbled up  his first opportunity to level the scores, advancing into the box and despatching a precise finish low past Kasper Schmeichel and into the far corner. That made it nine goals in his last 11 games and the clamour for the  teenager to be part of the England Euro 2020 squad will only be getting louder.

ANELKA IN MASON'S SIGHTS

Greenwood has some way to reaching the leading three goalscorers in Premier League history as teenagers. Former Red Michael Owen leads the way on 40, ahead of Robbie Fowler (35) and ex-United skipper Wayne Rooney (30). However, our brilliant no.11 is now only two behind Nicolas Anelka (19) and, with the form he is in, he will fancy catching the Frenchman before the season is out, even if his evening ended in the 65th minute tonight.

AMAD ASSIST

The man who scored with his first effort on goal in a first-team game for the Reds now has a Premier League assist to his name in his maiden outing in the competition. The Ivorian produced some flashes of skill that generated applause from the United contingent on the sidelines and it was his run to get onto a long ball by Juan Mata that led to Greenwood's leveller.

SUREFIRE SHOOTING

The two goals were the only shots, on or off target, in the first half and both were stunning finishes. More efforts on goal arrived in the second period, with Leicester starting to apply pressure in search of a vital goal. David De Gea was forced to make a good stop to keep out Kelechi Iheanacho just before the hour mark before Soyuncy headed in a Marc Albrighton corner. Substitute Bruno Fernandes managed a rare attempt for the hosts but it sliced wide late on.

TITLE DECIDED

Soyuncu's winner earned the visitors their first win here since 1998 and, of course, means we can no longer catch Manchester City at the summit. The fact this game has ended up being the one that mathematically decided the title with Old Trafford deciding the outcome of the trophy on the sixth occasion in the competition's history. United will still strive to finish second, with three games to go, starting in two days' time against Liverpool. Make no mistake, this was a huge win for Brendan Rodgers's side to boost their hopes of qualifying for the Champions League, with Liverpool under more pressure heading into Thursday's clash.
