Confirmed: United XI to face Everton

Saturday 09 April 2022 11:30

Interim manager Ralf Rangnick has named his Manchester United side to take on Everton, making six changes for the trip to Goodison Park.

Cristiano Ronaldo returns to the starting XI, having been ruled out of last week's draw with Leicester due to illness.

Ronaldo's inclusion means that we should see Bruno Fernandes operate in his more familiar no.10 role after being deployed as a false-nine last week. Our Portuguese midfielder is looking to equal Ruud Van Nistelrooy's record of scoring in three consecutive matches at Goodison Park when play gets underway this afternoon.

Marcus Rashford is also in from the start, replacing Anthony Elanga in a wide role, while Aaron Wan-Bissaka starts ahead of Diogo Dalot.

An injury to Scott McTominay means that Nemanja Matic will partner the in-form Fred in the heart of United's midfield, with the Brazilian looking to score in consecutive fixtures after notching against Leicester last week.

Raphael Varane and Luke Shaw also miss out due to injury, with Victor Lindelof and Alex Telles replacing the duo in the Reds' defence.

Paul Pogba will hope to have an impact from the bench, as will the energetic Anthony Elanga.
