Team news for United's FA Cup replay

Tuesday 14 January 2020 09:51

Eric Bailly is edging closer to full fitness but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's Manchester United squad for the visit of Wolves in the Emirates FA Cup is likely to be similar to the one on duty last weekend.

The Reds are at home again, in the replay, following the convincing 4-0 win over Norwich City on Saturday afternoon.

Bailly made his comeback in the Under-23s' victory against Newcastle United on Friday, along with Tim Fosu-Mensah, and will continue his rehabilitation in a behind-closed-doors friendly with Sheffield Wednesday's youngsters later today (Tuesday).

"We’ll probably have a similar squad to what we had at the weekend against Norwich," Ole told MUTV. "Eric is playing today, behind closed doors, so he’s very close to full fitness, but it’s still a few days early, this one."

Ashley Young looks set to miss out again while Luke Shaw must be a doubt after feeling a tight hamstring in the warm-up at the weekend, with Tahith Chong taking his place on the bench. Jesse Lingard's involvement is also uncertain after he missed the Norwich game through illness.

The boss must decide whether to give Marcus Rashford a rest as United bid to set up a fourth-round clash away to either Tranmere Rovers or Watford on Sunday 26 January.

United's Paul Pogba, Scott McTominay and Marcos Rojo are currently on the sidelines.

Wolves are without Willy Boly and Diogo Jota, while Patrick Cutrone has left the club to join Fiorentina, meaning Nuno Espirito Santo has limited options for his XI.

“It’s going to be the same squad as the previous game,” Nuno told reporters in his press conference.

“Diogo had a scan yesterday and next week I think he’ll progress on the pitch. He can start his healing process, he’s doing OK so hopefully he can start with us next week. It’s important, the same as Boly, important, of course.”

John Ruddy is poised to start in goal again.
