Team news for Liverpool encounter

Manchester United midfielders Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte are available for Sunday's Premier League clash at Liverpool.

The pair were sorely missed in Monday night's 2-0 defeat to Newcastle United, after being handed one-match suspensions.

Fernandes only sits out one game, despite the red card at Wolves being his third of the season, because the dismissal against Tottenham was later rescinded and his other sending off came in the Europa League, away to FC Porto.

Ugarte was banned after accumulating five bookings in the Premier League.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, head coach Ruben Amorim suggested Marcus Rashford may not be in the matchday squad on Merseyside.

The forward was an unused substitute against Newcastle but is unwell.

"It's the same situation but, at the moment, he's ill," said the boss. "I think he's going to be out this week. He's not training so we will see."

Victor Lindelof, Luke Shaw and Mason Mount have been out of action due to injury.

Jonny Evans was absent from the squad on Monday night, with youngster Godwill Kukonki named on the bench.

LIVERPOOL'S TEAM NEWS

Arne Slot has confirmed full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold will play on Sunday, amid interest in his services from Real Madrid.

Joe Gomez is ruled out but fellow defenders Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are on the mend and back in training.

Dominik Szoboszlai returns from a one-match ban, served in the 5-0 victory at West Ham United last weekend.

"Joe is, of course, not in a good place when it comes to his injury," said Slot. "He is out for a few weeks, that’s for sure. Conor and Ibou will train with us today for the first time. So, [I'm] curious and interested to see where they exactly are, of course.

"They have worked hard to come back to the team but the next step is always: ‘How do you handle team sessions?’ They will train with us today, the two of them.

"Of course, they still have to come in but we trained yesterday and I assume everybody is fit, although we are in a period of time where some people get sick as well. But I have heard nothing about that yet.

"So, hopefully, everybody is ready - except for Joe Gomez - to be part of the game on Sunday."
