Team news for United's Cadiz friendly

Tuesday 06 December 2022 12:00

Manchester United will be back in action for the first time since the dramatic win at Fulham, when Erik ten Hag's team take on Cadiz in a friendly this Wednesday night (19:00 GMT).

The game forms part of our training camp in Andalusia and will be shown exclusively live on MUTV, the United App and ManUtd.com.

A 29-man squad is out in Spain and this should present Ten Hag with plenty of opportunities to provide game-time to both senior and younger players.

In addition to the players away on World Cup duty, Jadon Sancho and Axel Tuanzebe are also absent, but Brandon Williams and Aaron Wan-Bissaka were fit enough to make the trip.

David De Gea can be expected to feature in his homeland, as one of four keepers in the group, while Victor Lindelof looks set to bring his experience to the heart of the defence.

Donny van de Beek and Scott McTominay can add their quality to the midfield, promoting their claims for starts in the Carabao Cup tie against Burnley when United return to competitive action before Christmas.

There is the possibility of an impressive front three of Anthony Elanga, Anthony Martial and Alejandro Garnacho, with the latter being back in the country of his birth and looking to build on his Craven Cottage heroics.

Of course, members of our Under-21 and Under-18 squads will be presented with chances to play due to the composition of the group. The likes of Charlie Savage and Zidane Iqbal impressed on last summer's first-team tour and will look to show off their credentials in midfield again.

A second friendly, against Real Betis, will follow on Saturday at 17:00 GMT.

The two friendly matches will be shown live on MUTV, which can be accessed via the Man Utd App on the iOS App Store or Google Play Store, on ManUtd.com or via the following connected TV platforms: Samsung Smart TVs, Android TV, LG Smart TVs, Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV, Roku TV and Xbox.
