Team news for United v Liverpool
Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Rasmus Hojlund will not be involved in Sunday’s much-anticipated Premier League clash with Liverpool at Old Trafford.
Our no.9 is eager to return to full fitness after getting injured during pre-season and he was pictured working hard at Carrington on Thursday.
However, Ten Hag has ruled the Dane out of match contention until after the international break - which runs for the fortnight following Liverpool's visit - despite clarifying that he is back on the grass.
“We have to see how it develops, how we can progress during the break, to get match fit,” said the boss, when asked about a potential return date.
“He returned on the [training] pitch but it will take a while before he is up. Everyone has seen, it [the injury] happens in the first game [of Tour 2024], so he needs also to build some fitness.”

United were without Hojlund, Victor Lindelof, Tyrell Malacia, Luke Shaw and Leny Yoro for the defeat to Brighton.
Mason Mount was withdrawn at half-time on the south coast and unfortunately the midfielder now faces a spell on the sidelines.
Our no.7 said in a post on social media that he had sustained a ‘minor muscle issue’, which would keep him out for a few games.
Ten Hag confirmed the news in ruling Mount out of the match-up with the Merseysiders.
The Dutchman added that he’d have a similar squad to the one utilised at the Amex Stadium last Saturday.

Sunday’s fixture may come too early for Italian winger Federico Chiesa, who joined the Merseysiders from Juventus earlier this week.
“He’s going to train with us today but it’s a bigger chance that he is not in the squad for Sunday than he is,” Arne Slot said.
“If injuries might come up in the upcoming two days we might need him, but I don’t expect him to be in but I cannot guarantee this.”
Liverpool’s only doubt is Curtis Jones, with the homegrown midfielder the only player not to join the rest of the group at Friday's session, according to Slot.
