Monday 03 May 2021 09:55

The first full week of May could be a historic one for Manchester United.

The Reds are on the brink of qualifying for an eighth major European final and will do so barring a remarkable turnaround from Roma in Italy on Thursday.

Another away trip, to Aston Villa on Sunday, lies in wait, while our other three teams are also in action. Here’s the dates for your diary…

MONDAY

Monday evening sees our Under-23s travel to Derby County in the Premier League 2 Division 1, in a game which will be broadcast live on MUTV at 19:00 BST. A win would see Neil Wood’s youngsters leapfrog the Rams in the league going into the final game of the season.

Friday is a historic day for United midfielder Scott McTominay, who made his debut for the club on this day in 2017. The Scot has gone on to be an important member of the side, making 129 appearances and scoring 14 goals.

We’ll be wishing Reds legend Norman Whiteside a very happy 56th birthday, too.

SATURDAY

Our Under-18s are back in action on Saturday as Neil Ryan’s side welcome Middlesbrough to the Aon Training Complex at 12:00 BST, in a game you can watch live on MUTV. The Academy boys are currently five points clear at the top of the U18 Premier League North table, although second-placed Manchester City have two games in hand on the Reds at the time of writing.

SUNDAY

The first team end a busy seven days with a trip to Villa Park, to take on Aston Villa in a game which kicks off at 14:05 BST. With just five games remaining, Solskjaer’s men are looking to secure a place in the top four and to continue our excellent unbeaten away record, which currently extends to 24 league matches.

Our Women are also in action as they close out the 2020/21 WSL season by hosting Everton at Leigh Sports Village, at 14:30 BST. Casey Stoney’s side were 2-0 victors in the reverse fixture, with Ella Toone and Christen Press grabbing the goals.
