What the week has in store for United

Monday 04 November 2019 07:00

There’s plenty going on at Manchester United in the first full week of November, including matches for the first team, Under-23s, and Under-18s. Take a look at what the next seven days have in store...

MONDAY
The week starts off with an away match for United’s Under-23s against Middlesbrough at the Riverside Stadium. Neil Wood’s side currently sit in second place in Premier League 2 Division 2, just three points behind leaders West Ham, and will be looking for a fourth consecutive league win. Kick-off is scheduled for 19:00 GMT, with coverage of the match beginning half an hour earlier on MUTV.

Neil Wood's side recorded an impressive comeback win at Doncaster in their last outing.

TUESDAY
Before the festivities and fireworks start on Bonfire Night, we’ll release the latest episode of UTD Podcast. This one features Dimitar Berbatov, with the Bulgarian sitting down with hosts Sam Homewood, Helen Evans and David May to discuss growing up in Eastern Europe, signing for the Reds and his post-football career.

WEDNESDAY
After training in front of the media, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and one of the players will appear in front of the press to answer questions about Thursday night’s Europa League clash with Partizan Belgrade at Old Trafford. Make sure you stay up to date with everything the boss has to say in our Official App.

Also, on Wednesday, it’s 33 years since Sir Alex Ferguson was appointed as Manchester United boss. Sir Alex is the most successful manager in British football history, winning an astonishing 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions League titles before retiring in 2013.

THURSDAY
We welcome Serbian side Partizan Belgrade to Old Trafford for a fourth Europa League match of the season (20:00 GMT kick-off). A victory for the Reds will move us on to 10 points in Group L, ensuring we qualify for the next round of the competition. As usual, you can follow all the build-up to the game in MUTV’s Match Day Live programme, while the Official App and website will be providing updates throughout the evening.

We will also wish David De Gea a happy 29th birthday. The Spaniard joined us in 2011 and has made 374 appearances so far. He also holds the record for the most Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year awards, with four. Rio Ferdinand (41) and Academy player DJ Buffonge (21) will also be celebrating on Thursday.

De Gea is currently 39th on our all-time appearances list.

FRIDAY
With focus shifting to our Premier League match against Brighton on Sunday, Ole will hold his second pre-match press conference of the week at the Aon Training Complex, with updates once again provided on all of our usual channels.

SATURDAY
The Under-18s will travel across the city to the Academy Stadium for a derby against Manchester City. Neil Ryan’s side will be hoping for a repeat of their last away league match, when we dispatched Newcastle United 5-2 in the north-east.

Make sure you follow both of Ole's pre-match press conferences this week.

SUNDAY
As the nation pauses to reflect on Remembrance Sunday, we’ll be gearing up to welcome Brighton and Hove Albion to Old Trafford (kick-off 14:00 GMT). Before the match begins, the referee will signal a period of silence to remember those who lost their lives in the First World War and subsequent conflicts.

Sunday is also Daniel James’s 22nd birthday and the Wales international will be hoping to cap off his special day with a win.
