What’s happening at United this week?

Over the course of the next week, we will build up to Manchester United's first away game of the season, as Erik ten Hag’s side travel to Brentford on Saturday.

In addition to this clash, there are a host of key dates and anniversaries to keep an eye out for, as well as training updates, Ten Hag’s press conference and much more.

Marc Skinner’s United Women are also in action this week, as are the Under-21s, so make sure you keep up to date with how all our teams get on.

MONDAY

We begin the week by marking a plethora of United debuts for former and current Reds.

On this day in 2010, both Chris Smalling and Javier Hernandez made their respective United bows. Nemanja Matic and Victor Lindelof also debuted on this date, with both appearing for the Reds for the first time on this day in 2017.

In 2015, former United duo Matteo Darmian and Sergio Romero also made their United debuts on 8 August.

Former Reds striker Louis Saha turns 44, while the late, great Jimmy Murphy, renowned for his work with youth players, was born on this day in 1910.

TUESDAY

We can look back on more United debuts on Tuesday, with legendary Reds Ji-sung Park and Edwin van der Sar making their first Reds appearances on this day in 2005.

Antonio Valencia and Jaap Stam, the Dutch defender who attended our game against Brighton & Hove Albion at the weekend, made their respective bows for United in 2009 and 1998.

WEDNESDAY 

On this day in 2018, our Brazilian midfielder Fred made his debut and Luke Shaw scored his first goal for the Reds in a 2-1 win over Leicester City.

In the same match, Paul Pogba scored within just three minutes, our fastest opening Premier League goal to date.

THURSDAY

Thursday marks the date of a memorable fixture for United back in 2019, as the Reds emphatically defeated Chelsea 4-0 in the Premier League.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Harry Maguire and Daniel James all made their debuts, with James getting on the scoresheet late on.

Keep an eye out for images and updates from training, which will be posted on our official channels on during the week, as the Reds prepare to travel to Brentford.

FRIDAY

On Friday, we'll be releasing our brand-new adidas third kit for the 2022/23 season. The strip is set to be worn for the first time at Brentford on Saturday, so keep your eyes peeled for the announcement and how you can get your hands on one from Friday morning...

On this day in 2003, Cristiano Ronaldo signed for United for the first time. The Portugal star enjoyed much success, of course, winning three Premier League titles and the Champions League, and, after departing in 2009, Ronaldo returned to United in 2021. Iconic United striker Ruud van Nistelrooy made his debut for the Reds on 12 August 2001. What a signing he was!

Subscribers can watch Manchester United's Under-21s' clash with Crystal Palace (19:00 BST kick-off) live in the Official App and on MUTV. It is the opening home game of the Premier League 2 season for the young Reds, after the 3-1 defeat at Arsenal at the weekend.

SATURDAY

The Reds travel to Brentford on Saturday, looking to bounce back from our Premier League opening day defeat to Brighton. The match is set to begin at 17:30 BST and you can tune in for live pre-match coverage on MUTV an hour before kick-off.

The match is being shown live on Sky Sports in the UK. Stay tuned on our Official App for pre-match build-up and post-match reaction, as well as stats cards, exclusive interviews, and much more.

United Women are also in action on Saturday, with Skinner’s side hosting newly promoted WSL side Liverpool Women in a friendly at Carrington.
