Old Trafford's first 'tifo' banner to be revealed
Manchester United fans coming to Old Trafford on Thursday are encouraged to arrive early, to generate a vociferous atmosphere for what’s viewed as our biggest game of the season.
This competition is United’s only chance of lifting silverware this season and winning the trophy would also secure qualification into the Champions League.
The power of Old Trafford was on full display in the previous round as United registered an excellent 4-1 home win over a tricky Real Sociedad side.
It is hoped our fans can generate an even better atmosphere this time around, with a place in the semi-finals against either Athletic Club or Rangers up for grabs.

A FIRST FOR OLD TRAFFORD
To enhance the atmosphere and inspire our team, a first-ever ‘tifo’ banner will be unveiled in front of the Sir Alex Ferguson Stand.
The club worked with fan representatives on the idea and image. It was then shared with Bruno Fernandes to get the captain’s seal of approval.
The 'tifo' will be raised from the ground to the roof, in front of the halfway line, creating a spectacular moment ahead of kick-off in M16.
The exact design of the ‘tifo’ is being kept under wraps for now, to retain an element of surprise and inspiration on the night.
If you’re coming to Old Trafford on Thursday, make sure to arrive in plenty of time to take your seat for the big reveal.
Red-and-white pyrotechnics will also appear adjacent to the banner, in a larger display than the one seen before the win over Real Sociedad in the previous round.
