Collyer credits senior pros for aiding his development
At 20 years of age, Manchester United midfielder Toby Collyer is very much at the beginning of his senior career.
Our 251st Academy graduate emerged at Brighton and Hove Albion and joined United's youth ranks two years ago.
Toby made his senior debut for the Reds in the Community Shield clash against Manchester City at the start of 2024/25 season and, after impressing further, played for the very first time in the Premier League when he came off the bench against Liverpool, at Old Trafford, in September.
In a recent interview for our matchday programme, United Review, for Wednesday's Carabao Cup clash with Leicester, the midfielder explained how sharing the field with seasoned pros such as Casemiro, Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes can only serve to aid his development.
Collyer gets his Premier League ball
GalleryToby Collyer recently received a commemorative ball for making his Premier League debut.
"I can’t put it into words how grateful I am," he said.
"Without them, I wouldn’t be able to reach the level I’ve got to at the minute. I think as much as I’ve done hard work, they’ve worked hard with me as well to help me and give me tips, like I’ve said previously. It’s massive for me."
"[When you play with them] you learn so much, just little things: them speaking to you during the game about your positioning or certain things to look for when you get the ball, certain areas to pick up.
"But everyone in the group is really massive for my development and they’ve all helped me improve so much already."
Toby is unfortunately injured at the moment, but upon his return the 20-year-old is setting his sights on further growth in 2024/25.

INTERVIEW | Earlier this season, Toby Collyer assessed his time in the first team so far and shared his future hopes…
"[I want to] just to get as many minutes as possible this year," he added.
"Honestly, just get as many minutes, just keep improving and just take each day as it comes. Don’t look too far ahead, just stay in the present."
