United pair among 2021 Golden Boy nominees
Manchester United have two players on the first list of nominees for the 2021 Golden Boy award.
Mason Greenwood and Amad are recognised for their efforts for the accolade, which is given to the best player under the age of 21 playing in one of Europe's top leagues.
Italian publication Tuttosport present the prize but votes are garnered from other magazines and newspapers such as L'Equipe, Bild, The Times and Marca.
Greenwood was outstanding in the second half of the season and finished with 12 goals in all competitions. The 19-year-old earned a place in the provisional England squad for Euro 2020 but was forced to withdraw due to injury.
Our no.11 can be considered as one of the leading candidates for the award, although 100 names have been released at this time, to be whittled down at a later date.
Amad completed his move to United from Atalanta in January and, after adapting to life in England with the Under-23s, he scored his first senior goal for the Reds with an incredible back-header against AC Milan in the Europa League at Old Trafford.
He followed this up with an assist on his Premier League debut, for Greenwood, in the home clash with Leicester City and showed another glimpse of his enormous potential with a wonderful last-minute free-kick winner on his Ivory Coast bow against Burkina Faso recently.
Others on the current list include England internationals Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Sako, along with Barcelona prospect Pedri, who made a positive impression in Spain's draw with Sweden on Monday night.
Anthony Martial was Golden Boy winner in 2015, while with United, and both Wayne Rooney and Paul Pogba also lifted the trophy.
Erling Haaland is the current holder, following his exploits with Borussia Dortmund and Norway.
