Training update from Carrington

Wednesday 05 October 2022 09:58

Manchester United trained in front of the media on Wednesday morning, ahead of our afternoon flight to Cyprus.

The Reds worked in wet conditions at Carrington in advance of facing Omonia Nicosia in Thursday's Europa League tie, which kicks off at 17:45 BST.

There are obviously plenty of factors for Erik ten Hag to consider when it comes to his team selection for the clash, with a Premier League trip to Everton also on the horizon.

Fit-again Anthony Martial marked his return to action with two goals when coming on during the Manchester derby and he will be pushing for a first start of 2022/23.

Marcus Rashford was in the XI at the Etihad Stadium, following his injury lay-off, and both forwards were part of the main group photographed and filmed in the rain at our training base.

Academy products Toby Collyer, Isak Hansen-Aaroen, Maximilian Oyedele and Omari Forson were also involved. A number of other youngsters, such as Facundo Pellistri, Zidane Iqbal and Alejandro Garnacho appeared in the Papa Johns Trophy victory at Barrow, with Garnacho scoring the late winner in a 2-1 triumph.

Although the likes of Harry Maguire, Raphael Varane, Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Donny van de Beek were not spotted by our photographers, we await an update from the boss later this morning regarding any potential unavailability.

Victor Lindelof replaced Varane on Sunday, when the France international suffered an ankle problem.

We hope to announce the full travelling squad later today.

The press conference to preview the game, featuring Ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes, will take place in Manchester, from 11:30 BST, and we will be covering it on our club channels - MUTV, the United App, ManUtd.com and across social media.
