Training update from Carrington

Wednesday 05 March 2025 10:56

Toby Collyer is back in training ahead of Manchester United's Europa League tie at Real Sociedad on Thursday.

The energetic midfielder has not played since our previous match in the competition, away to FCSB in January.

If available for the 17:45 GMT kick-off, it could be a timely boost as Manuel Ugarte was not spotted during the session, covered live on MUTV.

In addition to Ugarte's absence, there was no Harry Maguire in the session filmed by the cameras.

The centre-back was withdrawn during the gruelling Emirates FA Cup fifth-round tie against Fulham at Old Trafford and head coach Ruben Amorim had admitted he needed to check on his fitness in advance of the game at the Reale Arena.

It is understood that both Ugarte and Maguire look set to miss the game with minor knocks sustained at the weekend, but we will confirm the travelling squad when the players head to the airport.

Meanwhile, young striker Chido Obi is ineligible but did train while Patrick Chinazaekpere Dorgu can play, despite his domestic suspension.

The Reds have been without Altay Bayindir, Tom Heaton, Jonny Evans, Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad due to injury.

Bayindir, Heaton, Evans, Shaw and Mount are continuing their individual rehabilitation programmes on different schedules to the main group.

Of course, we will cover the press conference in Spain this evening, with it due to start around 18:15 GMT.
