Transfer news: Ladd leaves United for Everton

Hayley Ladd has completed a transfer from Manchester United Women to Everton, bringing an end to her six-season spell as a Red.

The defender-turned-midfielder joined the club in 2019 and played an important role throughout our first-ever WSL season.

In a sign of her impact and popularity among the squad, Ladd was deservedly voted the United Women Player of the Year in September 2020.

We wish Hayley well for the future as she joins Everton.

While she is known as a selfless team player, Hayley also had an eye for goal and contributed 12 strikes as a Red.

That tally includes a brilliant effort as United beat Manchester City in May 2023 to secure Women’s Champions League football for the first time in our history.

Ladd became the sixth player to reach 100 United Women appearances in February 2024, following Katie Zelem, Ella Toone, Leah Galton, Mary Earps and Millie Turner. She also captained the side on occasion in recognition of her seniority.

Of course, Ladd was memorably part of the squad that lifted the FA Cup at Wembley Stadium last May following a 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur.

Hayley leaves the club with 110 matches to her name, 12 goals, one major trophy and a place in our history secured.
