Under-12s visit Trafford Veterans

As part of our Under-12s' Christmas Truce Premier League project, the team took part in a series of activities to honour those who served during Wartime and reflect on the role football has in peace and remembrance.

The players visited Trafford Veterans, where they painted war figures and spoke with attendees about their experiences.

The group then visited the Imperial War Museum, situated close to Old Trafford, and joined an educational talk about the Christmas Truce, led by museum volunteers.

The Under-12s enthusiastically embrace the project.

As part of the project, the Under-12s visited the Stretford War Memorial, where the team laid a wreath and wrote poems inspired by former player, Sandy Turnbull, who lost his life in World War I and is commemorated on the memorial.

On the day, poems were selected to be read aloud by two of our players - Thierry and Maker, followed by a minute’s silence.

The team then faced Manchester City in a commemorative match, which began with a formal march led by military corps and the playing of 'The Last Post' by a bugler.

To conclude the project, our young players attended our game against Brighton & Hove Albion at Old Trafford, which resulted in a 4-2 win for Ruben Amorim's men, accompanied by a Trafford veteran to reflect on the importance of remembrance and community connection.
