Young Reds draw Liverpool

Friday 04 January 2019 15:00

Manchester United have been drawn away to Liverpool in the Under-18 Premier League Cup quarter-finals.

The tie is the reward for the Reds topping a group that contained Chelsea, Newcastle United and Norwich City - winning all three matches without conceding a goal and knocking out the much-respected Blues, which also occurred in the FA Youth Cup last month.

Liverpool also posted a 100 per cent record in Group B, overcoming Stoke City, Southampton and Reading.

The provisional date for the game, to be confirmed, is Saturday 26 January.

United won the league game 3-1 in Kirkby in August.

The youngsters have plenty to look forward to this month, including the Sparkasse & VGH Cup in Germany and, of course, the FA Youth Cup clash against Brighton & Hove Albion at Leigh Sports Village on 21 January. Meanwhile, the game at Stoke City will now take place on Tuesday 15 January at 13:00 GMT at Clayton Wood after being rearranged from Saturday 19 January.

Quarter-final draw:

Derby County v Tottenham
Liverpool v United
Middlesbrough v Everton
Stoke v Man City
