Under-18s mini-derby live on MUTV

Friday 08 November 2019 13:38

The first Manchester mini-derby of the 2019/20 season takes place on Saturday, with the 11:00 GMT kick-off live on MUTV.

United are unbeaten in our last four games and will be ready for the away match at City's Academy Stadium, with the hosts in good form after a 4-0 away win at Liverpool in the Under-18 Premier League Cup.

It is important to note that the game is not open to viewing for the general public - access is limited to players' families only.

FA Youth Cup draw
says

United have been drawn at home to either Lincoln City or Wrexham in the FA Youth Cup third round.

Lead coach Neil Ryan has been trying to ease the summer recruits and first-year scholars into life at this level and has competition for places within his squad.

“It’s always been the case when we’ve signed boys from other clubs that there is a bedding-in period as they need to learn how we work, train and play," he told United Review, our official matchday programme.

"Just being at this place is a big challenge for them and, also, the first-year scholars need it, as they’ve gone from schoolboys virtually overnight to young professionals. That is difficult as well so they need time to adapt and learn.”

The youth derbies are usually competitive and entertaining affairs, as is the case at any level, and the clash should provide more valuable experience for the youngsters.

Last season's short trip across the city ended in a 2-2 draw in April, with Ethan Galbraith and Dylan Levitt on the scoresheet. The home match, earlier in the campaign, ended 3-3 with Levitt netting twice and D'Mani Mellor also on the mark.

The match is being shown live on MUTV - with the build-up beginning at 10:45 GMT.

Meanwhile, our Under-18 Premier League Cup tie at West Brom has been rearranged for Tuesday 26 November at 12:30 GMT, after the original fixture was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
