Under-21s: Sunderland v Manchester United

Manchester United Under-21s were involved in another high-scoring Premier League 2 game on Sunday, this time drawing 5-5 away to Sunderland at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground.

Eight days after the remarkable 10-1 win over Stoke City, Travis Binnion's side raced into a comfortable 5-0 lead on Wearside, with Omari Forson's 47th-minute strike adding to Joe Hugill and Shola Shoretire's first-half braces.

Reds captain Hugill set the ball rolling with a rapid opener inside the first minute, firing low past former United goalkeeper Nathan Bishop. Shoretire doubled our lead in the 15th minute with a confident finish, after the hosts conceded possession just outside the box.

Hugill, a boyhood Sunderland fan, grabbed his second of the first half when a defensive header fell short of Bishop, before Shoretire rounded the keeper to make it 4-0 in injury time.
Joe Hugill and Shola Shoretire both scored braces in the first half.
Just two minutes after the restart, Forson fired United's fifth goal through a defender's legs from the edge of the penalty area.

However, the hosts then rallied and reduced the deficit to 5-4 by the 72nd minute, with their first four goals being scored by Harry Gardiner, Harrison Jones, Michael Spellman and Thomas Chiabi.

Heading into injury time, it seemed the Reds would see out the victory by the narrowest of margins, until Jewison Bennette netted a 98th-minute equaliser and earned a point for the Black Cats.
