Manchester United Under-23s' season opener against Leicester City takes place on Sunday, with kick-off scheduled for 14:00 BST.

The side will play their first game of the season proper at Leigh Sports Village.

Unfortunately, MUTV are unable to show the game live due to broadcasting restrictions which mean a Premier League 2 fixture cannot be screened if a Premier League game is taking place at the same time.

The second game of the Premier League 2 season for United sees the Reds travel to London to take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge with kick-off at 19:00 BST on Friday 20 August.

A tough fixture against Manchester City follows. That game, originally scheduled for Friday 27 August, will now be played on Saturday 28 August. Kick-off at Leigh Sports Village will be at 14:00 BST.

Lead coach Neil Wood explained recently that the U23s team will have a notable youthful feeling to it. As with last season, many of the side’s players have been loaned out to further their development with regular first-team football.

The latest to do so is Ethan Galbraith, the Northern Ireland midfielder who has joined Doncaster Rovers. He’ll play under Richie Wellens, an Academy graduate himself.
