Rarely seen images from the United Archive

The ‘United Archive’ series has a simple intention: to share priceless images with our fans.

Here in the editorial department, we’ve become addicted to the club’s photography archive that was digitised several years ago for future use across the platforms. There are thousands of rarely seen images, taken during the 1990s and early 2000s for our matchday programme, magazine and website.

It’s a treasure trove of gold and our new ‘United Archive’ series plans to share them with our supporters around the world on a weekly basis. In the week we remembered the Munich Air Disaster, it was appropriate to start with a photoshoot of the great Bill Foulkes, a survivor of the tragedy and 1968 European Cup winner.

That was followed by another club icon, Denis Law, surveying the Stretford End for one final time before it was transformed into an all-seater stand, Gary Neville's atmospheric photoshoot at Old Trafford in the early 2000s and Roy Keane’s arrival from Nottingham Forest in 1993.

An action-packed catalogue of pictures from the team hotel in 1995 followed, featuring the likes of Andy Cole, Mark Hughes, Paul Ince, David May and more.
