Our official Manchester United magazine is back

Our official Manchester United magazine is back.

The club publication – having been on pause since November last year, after the landmark 400th edition of what was Inside United – has now returned in a relaunched, renamed and reshaped quarterly form.

The refreshed and reloaded United magazine has an innovative new shape, new design look and feel, new increased number of pages and new premium style. But it’s still the club’s official magazine, still comes from inside Old Trafford – and is still made purely for United supporters.

Those who were previous readers of Inside United will recognise the same authenticity and attention to detail within the relaunched magazine, and new readers are invited to give the reboot a look.

ISSUE ONE: UNITED AND MUSIC

Bryan Mbeumo stars on the eye-catching front cover – clutching a guitar in a striking image that indicates the theme of this collectable launch edition. Because going forward, each issue of the new United magazine will work to a single idea that underpins the content throughout.

For issue one, that central concept is ‘United and music’ – inspired by the stunning Stone Roses range of clothing that has just dropped, and which Mbeumo is decked out in on the mag’s front cover.

The inside story of the photoshoot that captured that adidas x United x Stone Roses collaboration gives the issue its lead feature – with extra insight from cover star Bryan as well as Matheus Cunha, Amad and Benjamin Sesko – and then the broad music theme informs the rest of the magazine.
There is the story of Madchester, for example, the heady 1980s-1990s era during which Manchester boomed, with music and football at the heart of a cultural renaissance in the city.

With the clothing range being inspired by the Stone Roses classic I Wanna Be Adored, there’s then a loving look at United’s ‘adored’ – some of the players in red that United supporters have taken into their hearts down the years (expect to see Best, Law, Charlton, Cantona, Keane, Bruno and more).

There are exclusive player interviews in the content mix, as well – four of them, none of which you can find anywhere else before being published in this magazine. Diogo Dalot, Melvine Malard, Mason Mount and Ayden Heaven are the players who take the magazine’s questions.
You couldn’t explore the theme of United and music without saluting the songs that come down from the stands, so there is a feature ranking United’s top 10 supporter anthems. Think bouncing Busby Babes, the banks of the Irwell, and keeping the Red flag flying high.

David Beckham and Andy Cole are a couple of Reds legends who feature – Becks discussing his United career in the course of choosing eight favourite songs for Desert Island Discs, and Cole remembering his own 1999 record Outstanding.

There is an awful lot more to surprise and delight within the upweighted 132-page issue. There’s the inside tale of our 1994 number one hit Come On You Reds, as recalled by some of the players who went into the studio with Status Quo to record it. Talking of chart-toppers, there’s also an evocative run-through of all the UK number ones at the times United won silverware (guaranteed to spark sweet memories).

And you can also browse the club’s own record collection via a photofeature showcasing the songs we have released down the years – all on beautiful vinyl.

To finish the issue on a high, there is even a brand new and exclusive interview with legendary musician Peter Hook – former bass player for Joy Division and New Order, and of course a huge Red.
