Manchester United won the Sparkasse & VGH Cup for the second successive year, despite taking an Under-17 squad to the five-a-side competition in Germany.

The youngsters won a penalty shoot-out 4-3 after a 1-1 draw with Austria Vienna in the final, with D’Mani Mellor scoring in regulation time, and goalkeeper Jimmy Thompson saving two spot-kicks.

The 2-0 triumph over previously unbeaten Fulham in the semi-finals was a 10th in a row in the Under-19 tournament, following wins over TuSpo Petershutte, Gleichen, JFV Rhume/Oder, Radolfshausen/Eichsfeld, Schalke, Hannover, Eintracht Braunschweig, Eintracht Frankfurt and Mainz.

Mason Greenwood, the youngest player at the event, was the Reds' leading goalscorer and second top marksman overall.

United had the most youthful squad in the tournament and are the youngest group ever to lift the trophy.

MUTV are showing a full highlights show on Wednesday evening at 19:00 GMT, covering all the drama in a half-hour programme.
