Travelling squad for World Sevens tournament

Manchester United Women’s travelling squad for the World Sevens Football tournament in Portugal has been confirmed.

Marc Skinner is taking 20 players to the inaugural competition, which includes a group-stage across Wednesday and Thursday, featuring two pools of four teams.

Ajax, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, AS Roma and FC Rosengard are the other European clubs taking part, with the action broadcast live on DAZN. You can also follow updates across our platforms this week.

On Friday, the top two clubs per group will advance to the knockout stage. There will be 16 matches at the tournament, including a third-place match and a much-anticipated final. Each club will play between three and five games in total, depending on progress in the tournament.

NEED TO KNOW

United Women have been drawn in Group B of the competition alongside Roma, Paris Saint-Germain and Benfica. 

Each match will last 30 minutes, divided into two halves of 15 minutes each, with extra time for a tiebreak. There will be a five-minute half-time.

The tournament will take place at Estadio Antonio Coimbra da Mota in Estoril, Portugal. Pitches will be half the size of a traditional football pitch.
