Diogo Dalot is the latest guest to appear on the UTD Podcast, which will be released at 17:00 GMT on Monday (20 November) on ManUtd.com and in our app.

It’s the second time that our no.20 will be chatting to co-hosts Sam, Helen and Maysie after he first appeared on the podcast in early 2020, when he was breaking into the first team.

Now he’s enjoying being a regular and a versatile member of the United squad.

Our Portuguese full-back was part of the team that clinched our maiden silverware under Erik ten Hag’s tutelage with a 2-0 victory over Newcastle in last season’s Carabao Cup final.

Diogo described what it was like watching the atmosphere build on Wembley Way before the big game, from the window of his hotel room.

“We were in the hotel really close to the stadium, so from the window you could see Wembley Way that has the stairs and you could see the fans during the day interacting with each other,” he said.

“I remember I was in the room and just stood there for five or 10 minutes just watching them [the fans], see how they interact with each other and the parents bringing the kids and everybody taking pictures.

“United fans and Newcastle fans, they were all mixed and it was a special feeling.”

After the Reds triumphed, Diogo recalled a moment when the players lifted the trophy and explained how he treasures his first winners’ medal at United, which has only given him added hunger to achieve more as a Red.

“I remember saying to Rapha [Varane] after when we were up there lifting the trophy ‘we have to come back here, we have to win again, we have to win more’.

“Because it was really special from up there to see all the fans celebrating and everybody, the [United] half of the stadium was full. That feeling of winning is something indescribable.”

When Maysie asked where his medal is kept, Diogo said: “It’s in a frame now with the shirt, I put it on the frame already and I have replica of the trophy.”

In a wide-ranging chat at Carrington, Dalot talks about how he never gave up on becoming a regular first-team player and he now wants to help other players coming through.

Diogo also offers insight on his loan spell at AC Milan and how he feels about becoming a father.

And as if that’s not enough, he’s quizzed on football player nicknames and answers questions from you, the fans!

Diogo’s latest UTD Podcast will be available to watch and listen to on ManUtd.com and in the United App from 17:00 GMT on Monday (20 November). After 24 hours, you will be able to enjoy it through all other podcast providers.
