Lindelof: We want to dominate games

Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof believes the Reds showed how they want to play on the way to beating Everton 2-1 in the Premier League.

After falling behind to an early Alex Iwobi goal, the Reds rallied hard to be leading by half time, controlling possession and putting the hosts under pressure for much of the opening 45.

“We want to keep the ball, we want to play football and we want to dominate games with the ball and I think we showed that a few times in the first half,” Victor told club media following the important win.

Victor reflects on his 200th United appearance, plus our impressive football and battling mentality...

“Obviously, they got a great start but I think we showed great character and came into the game and I think especially in the first half we played some really good football.

“Then [in the] second half they made it tough for us, but again we showed great character and we managed to get the three points. Coming from a tough game in Europe and then to come here and to get the three points is massive for us.”

On how Everton responded after the break, he said: “It was very hard, I mean they have some good players and they get the corners as well. They have some big threats so it was important for us that we just concentrated. We managed to see it through and that was very good for us.”

He added: "In the second half we could have kept the ball a little bit more, but then again, every time they played, they played well and they put some pressure on us. Sometimes it’s about getting the three points and battle it out and we did it today.”

Victor also had warm words for teammate Cristiano Ronaldo, who came off the bench to net the winner, a goal which was the 700th of his club career.

“[I'm] very happy for him,” he said. “I think his numbers speak for itself. To come in and to perform and to score goals at his age is just remarkable so a fantastic football player and [I'm] very happy for him.”
