Lindelof: We can beat anyone

Manchester United are a team capable of beating anyone when the performance is right, says Victor Lindelof.

The Swede was at the centre of a rock-solid rearguard which secured a third consecutive clean sheet in the Premier League – and probably the most impressive yet, given the run of form Manchester City went into the game in.

Pep Guardiola’s side had won 21 straight games in all competitions, while the Reds have stuttered slightly after topping the table in mid-January, but Victor was always backing our ability to get a result.

“We are always confident going into every game. We know we can beat every team,” Lindelof said after the final whistle.

Lindelof’s take on a ‘deserved’ win

Victor Lindelof praised United’s patience and pressing, after Sunday’s win…

“It’s a very tough away game to play against a really good team. It shows what a great team we are and what we can do on the pitch.

“We need to keep working hard and hopefully we can get some more wins.”

It was the kind of showing from United where every player shone, especially when it came to stopping City creating significant chances, and that was something Lindelof was keen to point out in his post-match interview.

“Yeah obviously we are so pleased with the performance,” Victor continued.

“We defended really well as a team, not just the back four. I think we defended well, right down from Anto [Anthony Martial] to Deano [Dean Henderson].

“Everyone put in the effort that was needed and we got a clean sheet and three points, so everyone was happy.

“They didn’t create a lot of chances. We defended really good and you always have to stay focused because you know they can create chances from anything.

“Like I said, I’m very happy and it’s a very deserved win for us.”
