Unai Emery

Mixed injury news for Villarreal

Villarreal head coach Unai Emery has provided the Spanish side’s latest team news ahead of this evening’s Europa League final with Manchester United.

The two sides will go toe-to-toe at 20:00 BST in Gdansk, in what will be our first meeting with the Spanish club since the 2008/09 campaign, as we go in pursuit of our first trophy under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

In the opposite dug-out, former Arsenal boss Emery will also be hoping to win his first piece of silverware in charge of the Yellow Submarine, following his appointment at the club last summer.

Villarreal have made history against the Reds but the time has come to end the goal drought.

The squad features several familiar faces who could be in contention to face United, including on-loan Tottenham defender Juan Foyth, who has recently been battling a hamstring problem sustained in the previous round of the competition against Spurs' north London rivals Arsenal.

The 23-year-old has won 11 caps for Argentina and has plenty of defensive know-how.

Exciting Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze also picked up an injury at the semi-final stage and has been working his way back to fitness for this evening’s final, but it is unlikely that he will feature, according to Emery, who has provided an update on both players.

Emery told reporters: "'Samu' does not make the game and Juan Foyth, if he trains normally tomorrow [Wednesday], we will be able to use him."

Chukwueze has also pulled out of upcoming international duty with Nigeria, suggesting he needs more time to recover.
