Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba

Vote for October's Player of the Month

Tuesday 30 October 2018 09:48

It is time to have your say on which Manchester United star becomes our Player of the Month for October.

Luke Shaw won both the August and September prizes but his crown will be passed to another player this month with Victor Lindelof, Anthony Martial and Paul Pogba nominated for the three-man shortlist.

Juan Mata narrowly missed out on selection for his efforts in a period when the Reds were close to winning all three Premier League games, only being denied victory at Chelsea by an injury-time equaliser. The other October fixtures were in the Champions League - a narrow 1-0 defeat at home to Juventus after a 0-0 draw with Valencia.

Take a look at a summary of each nominee's month below before casting your vote...

Victor Lindelof has been stylish in defence.

VICTOR LINDELOF - 3 appearances, 0 goals

Although he only played in the last three games of the month, the Swede has really caught the eye and earned praise from manager Jose Mourinho. He handled the stern test against Juventus extremely well and was probably United's star man on the night at Old Trafford. The centre-back was unlucky not to be on the winning side at Chelsea and was excellent in the 2-1 victory over Everton, showing aggression to add to his composed qualities. As he shows signs that he is fully integrated now, the future is beginning to look bright for the 24-year-old.

ANTHONY MARTIAL - 4 (1) appearances, 4 goals

After coming off the bench in the stalemate with Valencia, he has forced his way back into the side and looked the part with some stunning displays. The fans' favourite scored a fine equaliser in the thrilling comeback victory over Newcastle United and then became the first Red to score twice at Stamford Bridge since 2012, when Ryan Giggs bagged a brace in a 5-4 League Cup defeat. With the Frenchman clearly in fabulous form, he sparkled in the success against Everton, earning the penalty and bending a wonder goal past Jordan Pickford for the eventual winner. The 22-year-old won three monthly awards last season, including the one for October, and is a strong contender this time around.

Paul Pogba has been a major contributor throughout October.

PAUL POGBA - 5 appearances, 1 goal

The influential midfielder has maintained a consistent level of form to earn a second nomination for Player of the Month this season. He has found the net once in this period, stroking home the rebound after Everton no.1 Pickford saved his penalty, but offered so much more with his promptings and powerful play. Moving deeper for the second half against Newcastle, his dominant display was one of the reasons why United were able to turn the game around and he was also impressive in the second 45 minutes at Chelsea. On a tough night against his former club Juventus, he was one of the Reds' better performers, going closest to an equaliser when hitting a post, and he has assisted Martial for two of his fellow Frenchman's strikes this month.
