Vote for May's Player of the Month

Wednesday 29 May 2024 14:00

Manchester United fans, the vote for our May Player of the Month is now open.

The Reds finished the 2023/24 campaign in fine style, winning the FA Cup against Manchester City and, after beginning the month with consecutive Premier League defeats to Crystal Palace and Arsenal in the Premier League, Erik ten Hag's side beat Newcastle United and Brighton in our final two league games of the campaign.

Joining our 2023/24 Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year Bruno Fernandes and Players' Player of the Year Diogo Dalot on May's shortlist is United graduate Kobbie Mainoo who, following a season which has seen him become an integral member of the Reds' squad, scored at Wembley as we defeated City to lift the historic trophy for the first time in eight years.

Read about each of the nominees' contributions in May below, before casting your vote in our fan poll.

DIOGO DALOT
5 apps / 1 goal / 1 clean sheet / 1 Man of the Match

Our no.20 has been one of the standout stars from a largely disappointing Premier League campaign in 2023/24, and ended the season in fine form to help the Reds win the FA Cup.

Diogo played in every single one of our matches in May, scoring on the final day at Brighton after ghosting in behind, and also kept a clean sheet in the same fixture.

Such a performance earned Dalot our Man of the Match award - as voted for by United fans - and the Portugal international was resolute in defence and potent in attack at Wembley the following week, as we defeated City in the big stage.

Typically, Diogo celebrated in passionate style, orchestrating the Reds fans who made the trip south as if dictating band players at Sydney Opera House. A fine month for our right-back, and a worthy nominee for May's accolade.

BRUNO FERNANDES
3 apps / 2 assists / 1 Man of the Match

After missing our first two games of May, the defeats to Crystal Palace and Arsenal, our skipper came back with a typically talismanic impact.

Bruno played a starring role in the 3-2 Old Trafford victory over Newcastle - a fixture where he was voted Man of the Match - and THAT assist for Mainoo's goal in the FA Cup final will be talked about for generations.

Fernandes was and continues to be the driving force in Ten Hag's midfield and his May Player of the Month nomination is the latest indicator of his influence.

KOBBIE MAINOO
5 apps / 2 goals / 1 Man of the Match

Kobbie. A Stockport-born lad who starred in our historic 13th FA Cup success, capping off another impressive month in an impactful campaign for the 19-year-old.

Mainoo played a role in all five of our matches in May, scoring against Newcastle in the win at the Theatre of Dreams and then, two years after helping our Under-18s to FA Youth Cup glory, notching on the big stage versus our rivals - an effort that ultimately proved to be the decisive one in the FA Cup final.

Kobbie was our Man of the Match in that Wembley showpiece at the weekend and continues to develop at a rate of knots.
