Tuesday 30 January 2024 16:00

The voting is now open to decide Manchester United Women’s Player of the Month for January.

Marc Skinner’s side played five times in the first month of 2024, which included a 2-1 victory in a friendly against PSV in Malta. The Reds restarted the competitive campaign with a dominant win over Newcastle United in the Adobe Women's FA Cup, before sustaining defeats in the challenging clashes with Chelsea and Manchester City.

The month ended on a high at Leigh Sports Village though, with a 2-1 win over Aston Villa in the WSL.

We are inviting you to submit your January Player of the Month choice. The poll is below, along with info on the three nominees and a reminder of their standout performances. We will announce the winner on Thursday.

NIKITA PARRIS: 3 (1) appearances | 5 goals

November’s winner is in contention for her second monthly award of the season after another impressive set of performances.

Parris has scored two braces this month, against Newcastle in the fourth round of the FA Cup and then against Aston Villa in the WSL. Two first-half goals against the latter rounded off a superb month for the striker who Marc Skinner described as being ‘on fire at the moment’. Parris’s fifth January strike came in the 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.

Our no. 22 featured in all January’s games including the friendly in Malta where she also got herself on the scoresheet against PSV.

ELLA TOONE: 3 (1) apps | 1 goal | 1 assist

Our history maker could be a back-to-back Player of the Month winner after another stellar set of performances. Tooney made her 150th United appearance by facing Aston Villa in the final game of January in front of a home crowd.

Our no. 7 scored the opener in the 5-0 victory against Newcastle in the FA Cup as well as assisting Parris with the second goal of the afternoon.

Toone has featured in every game in January, starting three and coming on as a substitute in the League Cup defeat to Manchester City.

JAYDE RIVIERE: 3 apps

Jayde has impressed this month as a key member of the Reds' rearguard. The right-back has featured in three games but missed out on the Manchester derby with a knock she picked up against Chelsea.

The Canadian defender’s best performance of the month came against Aston Villa when she held her own against Kirsty Hanson and Alisha Lehmann, denying them many attacking attempts throughout the match.
