Goal of the Month: Watch the shortlist
April's Goal of the Month shortlist includes sweet strikes from our men's, women's, U23s and U18s sides...
FRED v LEICESTER
Involved in the build-up with a smart controlling right-foot touch, Fred was then on hand to thump a left-footed tap-in home from a rebounded Bruno Fernandes shot. It was the key moment in a Man-of-the-Match performance.
GALTON v BRIGHTON (WOMEN)
Fed through wonderfully by Ella Toone, it was an archetypal Leah Galton goal - and a crucial one. The England winger held off her marker and slid a shot past Seagulls goalkeeper Katie Startup to help United to a hard-fought WSL victory.
SHORETIRE v LEICESTER (U23s)
When Hannibal’s low, curling shot struck an unsuspecting Shoretire on his left leg, the young attacking midfielder reacted in an instant to read the flight of the ball and thrash it home while airborne.
ENNIS v SUNDERLAND (U18s)
The in-form winger trapped Sonny Aljofree’s lofted pass with precision on the outside of his right boot, cut inside and drove inwards, past several players and into space. Upon reaching the edge of the box, he curled a beautiful strike into the top corner.
ENNIS v WOLVES (U18s)
Ethan’s great goalscoring form continued with a different style of goal. The 17-year-old received the ball on the left wing, drove inwards again and this time beat two players inside the area before reversing his shot back into the bottom left corner as he wheeled away towards the right in celebration.
RONALDO v NORWICH (3)
Another Cristiano Old Trafford hat-trick was completed with an excellent free-kick that sent Old Trafford into raptures.
EMERAN v ARSENAL (U23s)
Having come close with two well-struck free-kicks in games at Old Trafford, the young French winger finally got a deserved goal, finishing cooly from a defence-splitting Shoretire pass.
RONALDO v ARSENAL
Nemanja Matic’s left-wing cross was inviting, and Cristiano swept it home left-footed with ease.
MATHER v NEWCASTLE (U18s)
After a twisting run inside from the edge of the area, the Salford-born forward fired home emphatically - and satisfyingly - into the top right corner.
Record crowd expected for Youth Cup final
ArticleThe club has already outsold the competition record of 38,137 ahead of our game with Nottingham Forest.
MCNEILL v WOLVES (U18s, 2)
An unerring striker’s finish from McNeill, having been slotted in by Berry’s pass, rescued a draw for United at Aggborough Stadium.
RONALDO v CHELSEA
The Matic x Ronaldo link-up returned against another London club, the Serbian this time playing a delightful scooped pass which Ronaldo controlled excellently before rifling past Edouard Mendy.
