Thursday 02 July 2020 15:46

June was a great month for Manchester United - four games played, three wins and nine goals scored.

That means, therefore, that there's plenty of competition when it comes to deciding the Reds' Goal of the Month.

Scroll down to find out which seven strikes are in the running for June's accolade, and make sure you watch the video below to remind yourself of the action before making your decision...

Goal of the Month: Seven amazing contenders

We've never had a Goal of the Month for June before, so this one's historic! Watch all seven nominees before voting...

MARTIAL V SHEFFIELD UNITED (GOALS 1, 2 AND 3)

All three of the strikes which comprised Martial's maiden United hat-trick, against Sheffield United, are up for nomination. The first two saw the Frenchman peel off his marker in the area and latch on to driven crosses before firing home, while the third showcased all the coolness Anthony displayed in winning our February prize. Our no.9 played a quick one-two with Marcus Rashford on the edge of the Blades' area, before daintily chipping the ball over the advancing Simon Moore and into the net.

IGHALO V NORWICH

Odion knows all about winning this award - having come out on top in our March vote, for his effort against LASK - and he's up for nomination again after his Zlatan-esque finish in the Emirates FA Cup at Carrow Road. The Nigerian had his back towards goal when the chance arose but, sensing no-one was within two yards of him, cleverly angled out a right boot to send the ball into the net, beyond Tim Krul.

"There was nothing I could do, I can’t control the ball there and can’t do anything but just hit with my sidefoot," said Odion. "I did and, luckily, it went in. It was too close for the goalkeeper to do anything. As the ball went in, I was very happy but I watched the linesman, who did not raise his flag. When I saw it after the game, I even had two guys behind me so I was not offside."

MAGUIRE V NORWICH

How about Harry's 118th-minute winner, later on in that Norwich game? The skipper swept the ball home with the clock ticking down in extra-time, and the Reds inexorably heading towards the lottery that is penalties. Martial showed great composure in the build-up to shield the ball from the desperate Canaries defenders and, for a moment, you almost forgot the empty surroundings as the United players yelped with joy and joined Maguire in celebrating.

GREENWOOD V BRIGHTON

Mason Greenwood rampages in from the right, chucks in a quick stepover or two and then crashes home with either foot? It's a sight we've become accustomed to seeing this season, but certainly not one we're getting tired of. The 18-year-old's effort at Brighton was one of his finest yet, and set us on the way to arguably our most impressive Premier League win of the campaign so far.

BRUNO V BRIGHTON (GOAL 2)

Try to conjure an archetypal Manchester United goal in your mind and it's likely that you'll settle upon our third against Brighton. Reminiscent of Rooney and Ronaldo in their pomp, the way the Reds covered the whole of the Amex pitch - courtesy of Maguire's clearing header, Matic's swivel and laser-guided pass and Greenwood's jet-heeled pace - within 10 seconds, before Fernandes volleyed in at the back stick, was truly breathtaking.
